Are you experiencing a life altering illness?  Have you received a diagnosis of cancer, heart or lung disease, diabetes, kidney failure, autoimmune or neurological disease, HIV/AIDS, or other serious illness or injury?  Are you suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, fybromyalgia, or a pain disorder?  Such an illness can turn your life upside down.  It can change everything, your daily routine, your work, relationships, sense of who you are, your hopes, dreams, and expectations for the future.

You may feel isolated and separate from the ongoing life of your previous world of activities, your family, friends, and colleagues.  You may be confined to your sick room, relying on a cane or wheelchair, your days and weeks filled with doctors appointments, tests, hospitalizations, and painful treatments.  You may feel weak and less presentable/acceptable with your pain, fever, pallor, or ill appearance, odor, or lack of energy.  Friends may be afraid, and/or stay away, or become superficial due to their discomfort with your illness, not knowing what to say or how to help.  There can develop a profound aloneness when you live in the "sick" role. During such times, it may be hard to talk with loved ones and friends about these deeply personal topics.

If you have a lethal illness, it can be particularly difficult for others to be with you in your altered sense of life's limits and possibilities.  Acute questions of meaning and purpose and personal priorities may arise.  Important issues about estranged relationships, forgiveness, and unfinished business may cause spiritual pain and loss of hope.

Coaching and Consulting

As a coach, I find that it is crucial to listen deeply and seek to understand your inner story, to ask questions, to allow silence, and to be present as we together seek answers that may be deeply personal and spiritual in nature.  I can meet personally for an initial comprehensive consultation and discovery process, followed by in-person or telephone conversation weekly to provide a safe place to share, to question, to welcome feelings and fears, and seek meaning and purpose in what you are experiencing.  I can also meet in consultation with family members if it would be helpful to your living and/or dying process.
